The McMillan Fiberglass Stock was born when Gale McMillan, a competative shooter, experienced constant shifting of zero while shooting under varied weather conditions.
At the 1973 Super-Shoot in Austin, Texas, the advantages of fibreglass over wood were demonstrated when the McMillan Fiberglass Stock was introduced. Two generations of McMillans teamed up to build the finest synthetic stocks when Kelly McMillan (Gale's son) joined the company in 1975.
The Marine Corps, searching for tough, durable stocks, sought McMillan's assistance in the design of the M40A1 sniper rifle system. Of more than 1100 stocks supplied to the Marine Corps, only three stocks have been returned due to failure. (As you know, nothing is Marine proof!)
Over 150 rifles were built for groups such as the U.S. Marine Corps Shooting Team, Navy Team, National Guard Shooting Team and many other big bore competitions - all using McMillan Fiberglass Stocks.
Because of McMillan's reputation for technological excellence, these stocks have been chosen by the World's leading firearms manufacturer's for their guns, such as the Weatherby Fibermark and Fiberguard, Winchester Winlite, Sako Fiberclass and the Remington KS Rifle.
With a complete line of drop-in fiberglass stocks, McMillan is the innovative leader in the industry. The introduction of fibergrain combines the best of both worlds - the look of expensive wood and the durability of fiberglass. Added to the esthetic characteristics of Fibergrain, the quiet stock was developed to help dedicated hunters slip quietly through the brush.
With the McMillan process, no shortcuts are allowed, as with the injection-molded process. A combination of epoxy impregnated, high-pressure laminated fiberglass clothes and chopped glass strands are coupled with computerized numerical control machines, holding receiver and barrel inletting tolerances to the nearest 1/1000 of an inch. Each stock is subjected to a four-station quality control system and the critical eye of Dick Davis, production manager, where not even the slightest defect is allowed. Our dedication to excellence backs McMillan stocks with an unconditional (no hassle) lifetime guarantee.
