K-80 SKEET

The reputation of the Model 32 and the K-80 as dominant competition guns was first built on the skeet fields of America.

Easy barrel interchangeability made the Krieghoffs a natural choice for four gauge competition and their effectiveness made them winners ...

... Today the 4-Barrel Set has given way to the Tube Set for most serious competition as each new generation of skeet shooters deals with the fundamental challenge that is unique to their game: how to achieve similar gun weight, feel, sight picture, and balance in all gauges so that they can shoot consistently round after round and event after event. To this end Krieghoff offers a complete array of skeet guns to suit the needs of virtually every shooter.

The K-80 skeet guns are distinguished primarily by their barrel configuration - the choice of ribs, chokes, and weight.

The Guns

The K-80 Standard Skeet Gun is available with either 28" or 30" barrels. It has fixed chokes, skeet and skeet. The rib is the Krieghoff 8mm rib, which has a matted surface to reduce glare and a gentle taper (8mm to 7mm at the muzzle) to lead the eye. Since the days of the 4-Barrel Set, the Krieghoff 8mm rib has been the standard. To many, it is simply 'the skeet rib'.

Skeet Special is the designation for the K-80 Skeet Gun with choke tubes. The Skeet Special is also available in 28" or 30" and offers a choice of ribs: the 8mm described above or the tapered flat. The tapered flat rib narrows from 12mm at the breech to 8mm at the muzzle. It has a central sighting channel flanked by two raised, matted surfaces, and, like the 8mm rib, it is designed to reduce glare and keep your eye on the target.

K-80 International Skeet Gun, Gold Bavaria Grade with optional Tapered Flat Rib and Choke Tubes

The K-80 International Skeet Gun meets the unique demands of the Olympic game, which is shot with a low gun. It has 28" barrels with a 1/2" wide parallel rib, often called 'the broadway,' which provides both quick target pick-up and positive swing through. It has Tula chokes for wide even patterns and efficient shot strings, and both barrels are ported to minimize muzzle jump and insure maximum control on the second shot. Many International shooters prefer the versatility of barrels with choke tubes, choosing the 28" or 30" Skeet Special, which can also be ported, with either the 8mm or tapered flat rib.

The Skeet Wood

A great variety of K-80 stocks is seen in the skeet field. The standard American #5 skeet stock is universally popular. Some shooters prefer the #4 stocks that have no drop at the heel, and an increasing number are trying the K-80 Monte Carlo trap stock with adjustable comb. The #3 International/Sporting stock was originally designed for Olympic Skeet. The stock is a gentle Monte Carlo with slight cast and a special recoil pad to promote the consistent gun mount that is essential to the international game.

The K-80 4-Barrel Set

The K-80 4-Barrel Set with separate .410, 28 gauge, 20 gauge, and 12 gauge barrels is available on special order. Sub-gauge barrels are choked skeet/skeet. The 12 gauge barrels are available with fixed skeet chokes, Tula chokes, or choke tubes. All barrels are 28" and have the 8mm rib.

The Special Weight Barrels

Krieghoff has also created three specialty barrels for the skeet shooter.

K-80 Light Concept Carrier Barrels

The lightweight carrier barrel is for the shooter who wants the lively feel of the standard barrel when he shoots the sub-gauge events. The barrels have been specially lightened and cannot be shot in 12 gauge*. They are designed only to 'carry' sub-gauge tubes. They are light enough to offset the weight of the tubes, and they therefore maintain the feel of the standard gun. The light-weight carrier barrel is 28" long and has an 8mm rib. Many shooters add a 12 gauge standard barrel with the same length and rib to make a two barrel set.

K-80 Semi-Light Skeet Barrel

A barrel first designed for small gauge sporting clays is also becoming popular with skeet shooters. The new semi-light barrels are, as the name suggests, slightly lighter than standard barrels. When sub-gauge tubes are installed, their weight is partially offset, but, unlike carrier barrels, semi-light barrels can be fired in 12 gauge. The semi-light barrel is available only in 30" and is fit with the tapered flat rib.

K-80 Heavy Skeet Barrels

K-80 heavy skeet barrels are for the shooter who prefers the weight of standard barrels fitted with sub-gauge tubes. The heavyweight barrel has extra wall thickness, and its weight approximates that of a tubed standard barrel. The shooter who uses it in the 12 gauge event can therefore enjoy the same weight, balance, sight picture, and stock fit that he is used to in the sub-gauge events.
