The Krieghoff Universal-Trigger-System
1. To provide what many consider the finest trigger system available in any modern combination gun, Krieghoff has developed and patented the Krieghoff Universal-Trigger-System. Large bore rifles have often been plagued by heavy trigger pulls. Although necessary in some rifle to prevent the doubling caused by substantial recoil, heavy triggers can impair both speed and accuracy in getting off the shot. The unique design of the Krieghoff system prevents doubling in even the biggest bore rifle while at the same time providing crisp, clean three-and-one-half pound (1,5 kg) trigger pulls, reminiscent of the best side lock.
The Krieghoff Combi-Cocking-Device
2. Krieghoff has equipped the CLASSIC with a manual cocking device that combines the speed of a self-cocking rifle with the ultimate in safety. The combi-cocking-device is quick and convenient to use and operates very much like a conventional safety.You carry the CLASSIC with die hammers uncocked - the safest position since there is no chance of an accidental discharge caused by a worn safety catch or by dropping a cocked gun.
When you are ready to fire, you cock the rifle with a single, smooth movement of the cocking device, which is located on the top tang, in the position usually occupied by a conventional safety.
As long as the combi-cocking-device is left in the forward, cocked position, the CLASSIC is re-cocked upon opening and is ready to fire when closed, providing the speed advantage of a self-cocking rifle.
If you do not make your shot, you simply un-cock the gun by pushing the cocking device all the way forward and allowing it to slide back into the uncocked, safe position.
Removable Wedge and Integrated Front Sight, Up To and Including Caliber .375 H&H
3. To provide supreme accuracy at longer ranges, all CLASSICs in calibers up to and including caliber .375 H&H are fitted at the muzzle with a removable wedge and integrated front sight. Altering the wedge in minute increments allows your gunsmith to re-regulate and fine tune point-of-impact to suit your specific needs without ever having to resolder or reblue the barrels.
One Action - Many Configurations
4. Every CLASSIC rifle, regardless of caliber or grade, is built around an identical action to which any number of barrels may be fit. Select your preferred calibers for Big Five and plains game, for example, and simply by switching barrels you have one rifle - same trigger response, feel and stock fit - for an entire safari. You may even choose 20 gauge shotgun barrels for an odd day of bird shooting on the veldt, making the Krieghoff CLASSIC a gun of unparalleled versatility.

Based on the popular CLASSIC Standard, the CLASSIC "Big Five" is designed in conjunction with professional hunters and safari experts specifically for hunting dangerous game.
Calibers range from .375 H&H Magnum to .500 Nitro Express - the most effective on dangerous game and the choice of professional hunters and their most knowledgeable clients. Smaller caliber rifle barrels and 20 gauge shotgun barrels may also be added to make the "Big Five" the most versatile rifle in your gun room.
A hinged front trigger protects the forefinger from the effects of big caliber recoil.
A choice of sights is available. A rectangular rear sight with rectangular front sight is standard. A V-shaped rear sight with pearl front sight is available at no additional charge. Folding and express sights are also available as an option.
The stock dimensions of the CLASSIC allow you to shoot equally well with open sights or a scope. And the fine oil finish makes it easy to modify the stock to your own dimensions and to refinish it.
CLASSIC "Big Fives" made in the .375 H&H Magnum and .375 H&H Flanged Magnum N.E. feature a removable muzzle wedge with integrated front sight allowing for adjustment of the point-of-impact without re-soldering or re-blueing the barrels. The barrels of CLASSIC "Big Fives" in calibers larger than .375 feature conventional soldered wedges for added rigidity.
For CLASSIC "Big Fives" in .458 Winchester Magnum, .470 Nitro Express and .500 Nitro Express 3", the installation of a BreaKO recoil reducer in the butt stock is recommended. In addition to a noticeable reduction in recoil, the weightof the BreaKO unit offsets the added weight of the big bore barrel and brings the CLASSIC "Big Five" into perfect balance.
