Once a "friends and neighbors" hunting retreat, one of Virginia's largest contiguous tracts of private land is now open to the public. Falkland Farms is a 7,643 acre family owned plantation in Southside Virginia rich in hunting tradition and good times. "The Falks" consists of various types of habitat which support many varieties of game found in the Southside area. There are upland hardwoods, river bottom timber, swampland, and pine plantations. These habitats and land structures, combined with the size of the area, allow for flourishing, manageable game populations.

Of Dawgs & Deer

Deer Falkland Farms is one of the last true Old Virginia plantation-style farms, and a visit to the Falks will be a memorable hunt loaded with nostalgia and good times. During the general gun season, we hunt deer by running hounds. These hot chases are sure to excite both the seasoned houndsman and the first-timer. If you have never hunted with the hounds before, you'll be hooked on "the dawgs" after your very first visit to the Falks. These chases move a lot of deer and offer trophy potential in flushing those hard-to-hunt bucks out of their hiding holes.

An Angler's Delight

Fish Game fishing enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the opportunities afforded by John H. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, one of the largest bodies of fresh water in Virginia, which features fishing for Large-mouth Bass, Striped Bass, Walleye, Catfish, and various panfish. The Farm borders the Lake and Staunton River State Park, which provides boat access.

Gobblers Galore

Turkey Such a variety of habitat and land structure makes Falkland Farms home to perhaps the most elusive of all Virginia big game, the Eastern Wild Turkey. Turkey populations at Falkland Farms are very high. Hunts for the wary birds are run in the spring only. We offer guided hunts in limited quantities in order to ensure population maintenance from year to year.

Ducks

Falkland Farms is bordered by the Banister and Dan Rivers for approximately seven miles. Along these rivers and their tributaries, there are numerous pools of flooded timber and beaver ponds which draw many ducks each year. Bird With the Lake just downstream and the abundance of swamps on the Farm, the duck hunting here usually makes for some of the most exciting water-fowling on Virginia's mainland. Guided duck hunts are offered once a week during season.

Quail & Pheasant

Managed plantation pine stands and sequential growth edges provide a perfect quail and pheasant habitat. Champion pointers with experienced guides combine to challenge any wing shooter.

Trophy Hogs

Feral hogs roam freely on the plantation. Hunting with bows, muzzle loaders or guns offers a big game experience that will be retold for years. The hogs may be hunted from stands or blinds. Many hunters enjoy testing their mettle by stalk-hunting this wary prey.

Black Powder & Bows

Falkland Farms excels in primitive weapons hunting. Both bow and muzzle loader hunts are offered on a limited basis. Limited access combined with our own Trophy Management Program offers the serious hunter an opportunity to bag a memorable buck.

House

Bed & Bread

Lodging for all hunts is provided in the recently renovated Sydnor House Lodge at the Falkland Farm. The Lodge was remodeled in the early 1900's in the style of a Swiss hotel. It has seven comfortable bedrooms, two great rooms, and an ample dining hall. The Lodge is well-furnished and decorated with family memorabilia from yesteryear. All hunts include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Clays

We also feature a 13-station, 50-round sporting clays course for year round enjoyment. The course is perfect for warming up your hunting skills before tackling the game or for sharpening your wing-shooting skills, providing practice for the novice and a challenge for the more experienced shooter.
